ATTRACTIONS

Lyford Cay Shopping Centre - 1 mile Bacardi Rum Distillery & Hospitality Centre - 9 miles Ardastra Gardens, Zoo & Conservation Centre - 15 miles Botanical Gardens - 15 miles Prince George Wharf (cruise ships) - 16 miles Downtown Nassau - 17 miles Paradise Island - 18 miles Nassau International Airport (NAS): Approximate driving time is 15 minutes and distance is 7 miles. Driving directions from Nassau International Airport: Exit the airport and turn left onto JFK Dr. Continue west on JFK and follow the signs to the hotel. Turn right at the T-intersection onto South Ocean Dr. Hotel is ahead. Getting there: There is no regular shuttle service from the airport so the easiest way to get to the hotel is by taxi. Fare is $16–$25 USD for the first 2 passengers and $3 USD for each additional person. Rental cars, Town Cars, and limousines are more than $36 USD. Fees subject to change without notice. Rental cars are available online. Getting around: This hotel is secluded so the best ways to get around are by taxi or hotel shuttle. One-way shuttle fares are $2 USD to downtown and Cable Beach and $2.50 USD to Paradise Island. Fees subject to change without notice. Once downtown, walking is easiest because many tourist attractions, historic sites, and shopping, dining, and entertainment venues are in close proximity. Catching the frequent public buses or jitneys around the city centre and out to the beaches can also be convenient. Bus fares are less than $5 USD. Water taxis cross from behind the Straw Market in Nassau to Paradise Island, for return fares of $5–$15 USD. Water taxis and jitneys stop running at dusk. Scooters are a popular way to tour and rent for more than $36 USD. Fees subject to change without notice. Bicycles are complimentary upon availability from the hotel. Driving British-style (on the left) along narrow streets is daunting for most visitors so if going longer distances, taxis are best. Island-hopping is possible through Bahamas Ferries which runs catamarans to out islands including Spanish Wells, Eleuthera, and Harbour Island from Potter’s Cay between the old and new Paradise Island bridges. Or visitors can travel as the locals do, on mailboats which leave for the out islands from Potter’s Cay or Prince George Wharf, but passage can run on “Bahamas time” (slowly) and cargo can include livestock. Return fares for both ferries and mailboats are more than $36 USD. Fees subject to change without notice.

AMENITIES & SERVICES
What to expect: This 195-acre resort is located as far away from downtown Nassau's traffic jams and cruise-ship shopping crowds as it's possible to get on New Providence Island. Vacationing families and couples sunbathe, swim, and play golf in a lush, green tropical setting. The resort's beach is much less crowded than those at bigger Nassau resorts. Amenity highlights: A 1,000-foot beach of nearly white sand lapped by the turquoise Atlantic Ocean offers hammocks, wood sun shades, and a volleyball net. The resort's 18-hole golf course was designed by Joe Lee and built in 1972. A large swimming pool is located next to the beach. A second pool, surrounded by luxuriant tropical gardens, is across the street from the beach. Next to the resort, a dive shop offers scuba-diving and snorkeling excursions (fee). Insider tip: The resort offers low-cost, scheduled shuttle service to downtown Nassau, 17 miles away on the north side of New Providence Island, and to Paradise Island, which is connected to Nassau by bridges.
